I love this anime because it turns it's back on the typical MC "believe it" troupe. In this episode where he tried to give the simplistic carefree attitude about that duel he got called out for his true intentions! That never happens. Every other series involves a MC that is portrayed as stupid and childlike which is why they can get over losing or being looked down on. He still holds trauma from when he was a kid and does things like that to fit in. Yes he will get stronger like all other MC's but he also has to get over his mental blocks too.

p.s. I'm not knocking Naruto or any other show. I love them all, just am happy to see something different in this anime.

So glad someone else noticed it cuz even tho Orient feels generic af and has a bunch of copy pasted characters from Magi, it does have moments like this that we don't get enough of. I think Musashi is a very unique and loveable shonen protagonist since he is young and optimistic but also still learning and being self-aware of it, like how he realized he screwed up right away on his own. The fact that he had trouble following blindly due to being a literal slave is also a good example than just "I want to do things my way" like in so many other shonen series when mcs don't follow experienced fighters just cuz they have different ideals. And yes, it is also really sad that usually the friendliest people are often the loneliest and just want to be part of something, using whatever method they think will work. I do hope the ankle sword guy soon notices Musashi's efforts and actually properly explains how things work, cuz I do think that he lacks some proper communication skills that give others the wrong idea of what he wants.

What I like here is how relatable musashi in that situation where he keeps saying stuff at his leader but they still keep following him and musashi is weak currently so no one is listening to him and that new guy keeps saying señor to musashi lol

What I love about this anime is it shows that you're not strong at the start so you have to work hard to be strong just like the old animes instead of op already in the start of the anime

I'd sooner use Thano's double edged sword in Avengers Endgame before I'd use ANY of the weapons from this show.
